England overcame a second-half red card to defeat Mexico 3-2 in a thrilling round of 16 encounter at the iconic Estadio Azteca, securing their place in the quarter-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Three Lions raced into a commanding lead before half-time, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice in the space of two minutes, finding the net in the 36th and 38th minutes.

Mexico responded before the break through Julián Quiñones, whose 42nd-minute strike was his fourth goal of the tournament, equalling Javier “Chicharito” Hernández’s record for the most World Cup goals by a Mexican.

England were reduced to ten men in the 54th minute after defender Jarell Quansah was shown a straight red card, but Thomas Tuchel’s side continued to preserve their lead despite their numerical disadvantage.
