Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has clarified that he has not officially resigned from his role, despite numerous media reports claiming otherwise.

Ghana’s World Cup journey ended after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, bringing an end to the Black Stars’ hopes of progressing further in the tournament.

In a farewell message shared on social media on July 5, 2026, the Portuguese tactician reflected on his time with the national team, noting that football teaches an important lesson: “You either win or you learn.”

His message was widely interpreted as a resignation, even though the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not confirmed any such decision.

In a viral video recorded abroad while walking with his daughter, Queiroz clarified that he has not stepped down as the national team’s coach.

He explained that the message was intended to express gratitude to those involved in the tournament and to the fans who supported the team, despite their early elimination.

“I didn’t resign; I sent my message of gratitude,” he said in a video shared by The State News on X.
