Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have arrived in Morocco to begin preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Black Queens have been drawn in Group D, where they will face Cameroon, Cape Verde and Mali in the group stage of the continental tournament.

Ghana will be aiming to make a strong start as they seek to progress beyond the first round and compete for a place among Africa’s top women’s teams.

The tournament also serves as the African qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, adding further significance to the competition.

The Black Queens will be determined to secure one of the available qualification spots and end a 20-year absence from the global showpiece, having last featured at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2007.

With preparations now underway in Morocco, the team will be hoping to build momentum ahead of their opening Group D fixture as they pursue continental success and a long-awaited return to the world stage.
