Ghana Premier League side Heart of Lions have appointed experienced Turkish tactician Kasim Gökyildiz as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 60-year-old replaces Bashiru Hayford, who recently parted ways with the Kpando-based club after the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.

Gokyildiz is no stranger to Ghanaian football, having previously managed King Faisal, Bechem United and Hohoe United during an earlier spell in the country. He built a reputation for his tactical discipline and ability to develop competitive teams during his previous stints.

The club confirmed the appointment in a statement on its official Facebook page, announcing that the Turkish coach has signed a one-year contract with an option to extend.

“Appointment Of New Coach. We are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Kasim Gokyildiz as the Club’s new Head Coach.

“Coach Kasim signs a one-year deal with renewal options.

Gokyildiz will now be tasked with building on Heart of Lions’ recent progress as the club prepares for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with expectations of mounting another strong challenge in the top flight.
