Ghanaian bodybuilder Samson Selorm Dogbe has made history after winning the overall title at the IFBB Mr Equinox International Bodybuilding Championship in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, becoming the first Ghanaian to claim the prestigious crown.

Dogbe secured victory in the men’s classic physique category before being named the overall champion at the competition, held from February 7 to 12 at the Palais de la Culture. The triumph also earned him his second IFBB professional card, qualifying him to compete at the sport’s highest level.

The Ghanaian bodybuilder built on that success by claiming another major title at the IFBB Mr Universe Championship in Thailand, where he emerged victorious in his category against competitors from more than 40 countries.

Following his latest achievement, Dogbe has received an invitation to compete at the upcoming IFBB World Championship in Santa Susana, Spain.

However, the massage therapist and personal trainer has appealed to Ghana’s Ministry of Sports for financial support to enable him to participate.

“I am pleading with the Ministry of Sports to aid me in this event. It is not just me winning—it is the name of Ghana being lifted on the world bodybuilding stage,” Dogbe said.

He believes greater support for bodybuilding will help Ghanaian athletes achieve more international success.
