Concerns have emerged over the conduct of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation Elections Committee following allegations of irregularities in the handling of delegates’ lists ahead of the federation’s upcoming elections.

In an open letter addressed to Elections Committee Chairman Osei-Boateng Lawrenz, a stakeholder accused the committee of disregarding the official delegates’ list submitted by the Greater Accra Regional Taekwondo Federation and instead accepting what was described as an unofficial list.

The writer argued that the decision undermines democratic principles and the rule of law, particularly given that members of the committee are legal practitioners expected to uphold fairness and transparency.

The letter also questioned the committee’s refusal to accept the Western Regional Taekwondo Association’s delegates’ list on the grounds of late submission. According to the stakeholder, the committee’s communication requesting delegates’ names did not specify a submission deadline, making the rejection unjustified.

The stakeholder urged the committee to review its decisions, warning that failure to address the concerns could damage the credibility of the election process and the reputation of those overseeing it. The committee has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
