Ghanaian champions Medeama SC have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of Sudan international Monged El Neel Abuzaid Salman ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The experienced shot-stopper has joined the Mauve and Yellow on a two-year contract after completing a free transfer following his departure from South Sudanese side El Merriekh Bentiu.
El Neel arrives in Tarkwa with a wealth of experience, having previously featured for Sudanese clubs Hilal Al Sahil and Al Merrikh SC, where he spent six years before moving to El Merriekh Bentiu in 2025.
The 30-year-old has also enjoyed a notable career on the continental stage, making 18 appearances across the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup during his time in Sudan.
At international level, El Neel established himself as Sudan’s first-choice goalkeeper at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, playing all three group matches as the Falcons of Jediane reached the Round of 16. He also featured in three matches during Sudan’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Since making his senior debut against Senegal in 2018, El Neel has earned 10 caps for Sudan and is expected to bring leadership and valuable experience to Medeama SC as the club prepares for the new Ghana Premier League season.
