Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has urged Ghanaians to remain patient with head coach Carlos Queiroz, insisting the national team needs time to fully adapt to the Portuguese tactician’s methods.

Queiroz was appointed just months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the departure of Otto Addo and guided Ghana to the knockout stage for the first time in 16 years before the Black Stars were eliminated by Colombia in the Round of 32.

Speaking after Ghana’s exit, Ayew stressed that building a successful team under a new coach cannot happen overnight.

“The new manager just came and people are adjusting to his style. The team can’t adjust between one or two months. Football doesn’t work like that,” the Black Stars skipper said.

The experienced forward believes time is essential for the players to fully understand Queiroz’s philosophy and implement his ideas on the pitch.

Despite the disappointment of the World Cup campaign ending in the Round of 32, Ghana showed signs of progress by advancing from the group stage, raising hopes that the team can continue to improve under the Portuguese coach.

Attention now shifts to the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the next Africa Cup of Nations, where Queiroz is expected to continue building on the foundations laid during the World Cup.
