Former Ghana Football Association president Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has urged the current GFA to retain Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars following the team’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Portuguese tactician took charge of the national team in March after Otto Addo’s dismissal and guided Ghana to the Round of 32, ending the Black Stars’ 16-year wait for a place in the knockout stage of the World Cup.

Despite Ghana’s elimination to Colombia in the Round of 32, Nyaho-Tamakloe believes Queiroz deserves the opportunity to continue his work with the national team.

“I feel we should maintain him for a limited period,” the former GFA president said, stressing that the coach’s future should be tied to clear objectives.

Nyaho-Tamakloe also challenged Queiroz to rebuild the team and develop a stronger squad capable of competing for major honours in the years ahead.

“He should be made to know that he is going to train the boys from scratch and make them very formidable,” he added.

Carlos Queiroz is expected to sign a new two-year contract with the Ghana Football Association, with the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations set to be his primary target as Black Stars head coach.
