The Veterans Table Tennis Association of Ghana (VTTAG) has donated International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)-standard equipment to Alma Mater Wioso Senior High School in the Eastern Region as part of efforts to promote the sport and nurture young talent.

The donation, made on June 30, included a professional table tennis board, paddles and balls. VTTAG President, lawyer Christopher King, led the delegation and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to expanding access to the sport in schools across the country.

Addressing students and staff, King highlighted the history of table tennis and its educational, health and social benefits. He noted that the school’s mission of providing quality education and practical skills aligns with VTTAG’s vision of using sport to empower young people.

VTTAG coach and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology table tennis coach Mr Hakeem introduced students to the fundamentals of the game and outlined scholarship opportunities available at KNUST for talented players. He assured the school of the association’s continued mentorship and support.

King expressed confidence that the initiative would inspire more students to embrace table tennis, adding that VTTAG hopes to replicate the programme in schools nationwide.
