Black Stars winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians following the national team’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, promising that the players will learn from the disappointment and come back stronger.

Ghana’s campaign ended in the Round of 32 after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia, having reached the knockout stage for the first time since 2010. The Black Stars finished third in Group L with four points after beating Panama, drawing with England and losing to Croatia.

Sulemana featured in two of Ghana’s four matches at the tournament, making appearances against Panama and Croatia before the team’s exit.

Taking to social media after the tournament, the Southampton winger said representing Ghana on the world stage remains one of the greatest honours of his career.

“Very grateful and honored to represent the motherland on the global stage again. It’s a privilege I will never take for granted,” he wrote.

The 23-year-old admitted the team fell short of expectations but insisted the players gave everything to make the country proud during a difficult period for many Ghanaians.

“We know what football means to Ghana, and we gave it our all to make the country proud and give Ghanaians something to cheer for, especially during a period when many are going through difficult times. Unfortunately, we fell short, but we will learn from this experience to work even harder and do everything we can to give something special back to the people of Ghana.”

Sulemana also thanked Ghanaians for their unwavering support throughout the World Cup, describing the experience as one filled with valuable lessons despite the disappointment.

“I’m very grateful for the support & love that all Ghanaians have shown, both directly and indirectly. There are many lessons learnt, but also moments we can be proud of. FOREVER GRATEFUL. God bless Ghana.”

Although Ghana’s World Cup journey ended earlier than hoped, Sulemana believes the lessons from the tournament will help the Black Stars grow stronger as they prepare for future international competitions.
