Spanish La Liga side Valencia CF have completed the signing of Mali international Aliou Dieng from Egyptian giants Al Ahly on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a two-year contract with the Black and Whites, keeping him at the Mestalla until June 2028, and will be playing in Europe for the first time in his career.

Dieng arrives in Spain after a hugely successful six-year spell with Al Ahly, where he established himself as one of Africa’s finest midfielders. Since joining the Cairo-based club in 2019, he made 250 official appearances and became a key figure in the team’s dominance.

During his time with the Red Devils, Dieng won an impressive 16 major trophies, including three Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egyptian Cups, four Egyptian Super Cups, four CAF Champions League crowns and two CAF Super Cups.

The experienced midfielder also captains the Mali national team and was part of the squad that represented the West African nation at the most recent Africa Cup of Nations.

Valencia will be hoping Dieng’s experience, leadership and defensive qualities strengthen their midfield as they prepare for the 2026/27 season, while the move marks a significant milestone in the Malian’s career with his first taste of European football.
