Black Maidens assistant coach Bashirudeen Sumani says the team is fully prepared for Saturday’s decisive FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying second-leg clash against Senegal at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana return home after earning a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Dakar last week and have since stepped up preparations, including an emphatic 7-0 victory over UK-based side Accrington Stanley FC in a friendly match.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Sumani expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, praising the players’ commitment and intensity in training.

Despite the confidence within the camp, the assistant coach insisted the technical team is not taking the Senegalese lightly, describing every opponent in the competition as a serious threat.

“Yes, we are ready. We’ve been away in Senegal. We drew with them. We are home for a week now. We have been preparing towards the match. Our girls’ commitment is very high. Our focus is very keen to ourselves. And I think by now, you should see how our training went. And it tells you that we are ready,” he told GFA Communications.

“Every team is a threat when you are going to play a match. We are not undermining them. We’ve seen them play and they are part of the competition. Once they are part of the competition, they are a threat. So you have to get ready for whoever you are meeting.”

Sumani added that Ghana’s technical team has carefully analysed the opposition and is focused on exploiting Senegal’s weaknesses while improving the Black Maidens’ strengths.

“We have ourselves with our video analysts. We have worked on those things and we will not want to bring it out. But we have worked tirelessly to make sure that we take advantage of their mistakes and improve on our strengths to make sure that we win here and qualify for the World Cup.”

The winner of Saturday’s encounter, which kicks off at 3:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium, will secure a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
