I am a married man, and before anyone judges me, I already know I made a terrible mistake.

I wasn’t searching for love or trying to leave my wife. I met a woman I found incredibly attractive, and all I wanted was a relationship with her. It was a chase I should never have started.

At first, things seemed promising. We spoke almost every day. I sent her money, bought her expensive phones, gadgets, and gifts, hoping she would eventually agree to be with me.

Yet whenever we got close to meeting, she always had an excuse. One day it was because I was married, another day it was something else.

The excuses never ended, but she never pushed me away completely. She kept me hopeful, making me believe I still had a chance.

Then one day she showed me pictures of a piece of land in Accra, priced at about $120,000. I laughed at first, but she convinced me that buying the land would prove how serious I was.

She assured me that once everything was completed, she would stop seeing me as just a married man and give our relationship a real chance.

Looking back, I can’t believe I fell for it. I went ahead and bought the land. By the time registration and other expenses were completed, I had spent close to $160,000. She happily received the land and all the documents. That was over two months ago.

Since then, everything has changed. The woman who once couldn’t stop calling me now barely replies to my messages. Every promise has become “next week.”

Sometimes she disappears for days without a word. It finally hit me that I had been played. She got exactly what she wanted, and I was left with nothing but regret.

I know many will say I deserve it because my intentions weren’t pure. Maybe they’re right. But losing that kind of money is not easy to accept.

I worked hard for it, and I keep asking myself why I was willing to spend so much on someone who wasn’t even my wife, when I could have invested it in my own family.

Now I’m torn. Part of me wants to walk away and accept my loss. Another part of me feels she deliberately deceived me just to get the land, and I don’t want to let that slide.

Should I fight to recover what I lost through deception, or should I accept the painful lesson and move on?
