Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz believes Ghana has every chance of overcoming Colombia as the two sides prepare to meet in the round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana booked their place in the knockout stage after finishing third in Group L with four points, recording a win over Panama, a draw against England and a defeat to Croatia.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Queiroz acknowledged Colombia’s quality but insisted they are far from unbeatable.

“Colombia are not perfect. A good team, not perfect. We are a great team, we are not perfect. It is going to be a great game regardless of the result,” the Portuguese coach said.

The experienced Portuguese also challenged his players to embrace the occasion, stressing that the knockout stage is where the tournament truly begins.

“The responsibility is on us to ensure Ghana becomes the next African nation to reach the Round of 16,” he said before adding: “The Black Stars, we need to shine tomorrow. The real World Cup starts now. These are the games that count and matter.”

The Black Stars will be aiming to secure a place in the Round of 16 for the first time since the 2010 FIFA World Cup when they take on the South American side in one of the standout knockout fixtures.
